CAREGIVER Pilot PROGRAM

New Caregiver Program 2020

This program is made for individuals who want to immigrate and work in Canada as caregivers. Caregiver immigration pilot program was replaced with a new program on June 18, 2019. This pilot program has more flexibility for potential applicants.

Caregiver Program Features

The caregiver program is an employer-driven program but it doesn’t need to be employer-specific, it allows you to change employers. This profession will be occupation-specific allowing the caregivers to not be bound to work for a specific employer/location.

When a work permit is issued to them, they will be free to work for any or as many employers or places as they want. They can also find new employers but should remain under same National Occupation Classification Code. Also, now employers are not needed to go through the LMIA process to employ a caregiver.

Also, the family members including spouses and children can come to Canada with the principal applicant when the work permit is granted and they can be included in the application for permanent residence while in Canada.

The caregiver program is divided in 2 types majorly:

  1. A) Home Child Care Program
    B) Home Support Workers, housekeepers & related occupations

 

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) 

The pilot, launched in 2017, helps employers in Atlantic Canada hire foreign skilled workers who want to immigrate to Atlantic Canada and international graduates who want to stay in Atlantic Canada after they graduate. This Program is tailored for people who want to target to work and live in one of Canada’s four Atlantic Provinces — Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. For skilled foreign nationals and international graduates, this program leads to permanent residence.

In majority of cases, the foreign nationals are supposed to get a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) in order to obtain a Canadian job offer. But being different with this program, LMIA is not required because the Canadian Government has its designated Canadian employers in these provinces. The applicant needs to obtain a job offer from one of these designated Canadian employers. This program is highly employer-driven and targets bringing foreign skilled workers in these provinces to fill the employment gaps for the positions for which Canadian citizens/ permanent residents are not available.

Depending on different labor needs in each of these regions, there are three streams under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot and this aims at different categories of applicants.

Atlantic International Graduate Program

Atlantic International Graduate Program is for applicants who have earned a degree or diploma from a designated institution based in Atlantic province. For this program, there would not be a requirement of work experience but the job offer made must be for at least one year.

Atlantic High-Skilled Program

The High-Skilled Program is targeted at engaging skilled workers who have professional, management, or technical job experience. At least a year long job offer is a must for this program.

Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program

Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program is intended for people can have a combination of high school education and/or job training. Unlike the other 2 programs the job offer made for this program must be permanent.

The foreign national will have to prove the basic requirements of meeting up with the language score, education and work experience along with a mandatorily required job offer from a designated employer. They will need to show proofs that they have enough money or that each member of the family has a settlement plan to maintain their needs while being in Canada.

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program (RNIP)

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) program is targeted for fulfilling the employment needs in Rural and Northern areas of Canada. It is a community-driven program allowing the foreign applicants to receive a job offer from designated employers which have different labor needs in these areas of Canada. It’s designed to spread the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities by creating a path to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers who want to work and live in one of the participating communities.

The main reason of introducing the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program (RNIP) Canada is because people come and settle in urban cities of Canada. And so the jobs remain unfulfilled in rural areas. Not only unfulfilled jobs but low birth rates and aging population are also one of the major problems in decreasing the population in these regions.

The communities that are participating in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) are:

Tech Pilot Program – British Columbia

Since the launch of this program, BC PNP Tech has supported over 6,000 tech worker’s nominations which lead towards their permanent residence. BC PNP Tech program is a foundation of technology sector in BC which is an attraction for the talent it needs to sustain and grow the sector further. For in-demand foreign workers and international students, BC PNP Tech is a great bridge for tech workers leading towards permanent residence.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot is a program designed to provide B.C. tech employers with the continued facility to hire and retain international talent when Canadian citizens and permanent resident workers are unavailable for those positions. The tech companies in BC are able to attract and employ skilled workers from different parts of the world. BC PNP Tech has 29 tech occupations which lead to a prioritized alleyway towards permanent residency and a prospect to add to the Province’s development.

The invitations are issued on a weekly basis to qualified applicants by the BC PNP. These invitations are given to applicants who have a valid job offer in one of the 29 eligible occupations. The least duration for the job offer is 365 days, in contrast to the other BC PNP streams that need a job offer for an indefinite duration. The offer made by the employer must be full-time and by an eligible employer in BC.

Depending on the applicant’s job, job experience, and education level, the BC PNP invites applicants under different categories under Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

Agri-Food Immigration Pilot (AFIP) 

Agriculture is one of the major growing sectors in Canada. In order to engage and retain workers required for the agri-food sector, the Government of Canada launched the Agri-Food Immigration Pilot. This program helps in addressing the agriculture needs of the Canadian agri-food sector. It also encourages the experienced, non-seasonal agri-food workers to contribute to agriculture sector who can later settle in Canada.

Usually, limited work permits are given to temporary foreign workers with work experience in the Canadian agri-food sector. Also they are not able to obtain permanent resident status. But with this Pilot program, you get an opportunity to become permanent residents. The eligibility for this program depends on if you have a valid job offer in one of the specialized occupations with an added work experience.

Eligibility Occupations for Canada’s Agri-food Pilot

The occupations under this pilot program are as follows:

  • Farm supervisor and specialized livestock worker for meat processing, year-round mushroom production, greenhouse crop production or livestock raising
  • General farm worker for year-round mushroom production, greenhouse crop production, or livestock raising
  • Meat processing (including retail butcher, industrial butcher, food processing laborer)
  • Harvesting laborer for year-round mushroom production and greenhouse crop production
